A Tradition of Devotion
Every year, the mission at Ranchos de Taos, San Francisco de Asissi, is replastered with fresh adobe. This is a tradition that has been happening since the construction of the mission in 1820.
THE PLAN
I have been intrigued by this annual event and have created a portfolio of lithographs and woodblocks from watercolors that have been created over a number of years.
As of August, 2026, the project is on the verge of completion. The woodblocks are all printed and the folios that will hold the seven hand-prints are being assembled.
SCHEDULE
Projects like this take time. An opening is scheduled for mid Oct 2026 at McLarry Fine Art, Santa Fe, NM.
PRICING
Just as the finish date is up in the air, so is the pricing. I am estimating that the price will be in the $2600 range for the seven prints.
FOLIO SIZE & EDITION
The paper size is 14x11" which means the folio will be slightly larger. .
The edition size will be sixteen folios with two artist proofs. There will be a few of the folio woodblocks that will be available separately. These individual prints will only be available during the McLarry opening.

In The Process
Pressure is applied to the back side of the paper using a baren, a circular disk wrapped with a bamboo leaf.

Printing The Woodblocks
Six of the folio images are woodblocks and one a lithograph. All have been hand printed with the blocks or plates created by Leon at DCArtPress.
1) Shows the inking of the block to print a specific color. The has to be hand inked each time a color is printed.
2) Shows the paper being aligned to the inked block using the registration tabs mounted to the block.
3) Shows pressure being applied to the paper using a baren, a circular disc covered with a texture material (usually, a bamboo leaf).
