PROCESS
The 2010 PrintFolio has been completed just in time for the year’s end. The theme is on Process and discusses the creative use and application of a process. There are step examples of a Japanese print and a print by Arthur Wesley Dow. There is also an article by Ernest Fenollosa written in 1895 announcing Dow’s exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The subscription print was created by Tom Virgin, a Florida printmaker.
The publication is a soft bound folio that has been hand printed at DCArtPress in an edition of 30. The cover image, a signed and numbered reduction woodblock by Leon, embodies the Folio’s theme, the creative use of a process. The print “Haying” borrows techniques from A. W. Dow and Japanese printmaking. The subscription print created by Florida printmaker Tom Virgin was also printed in an edition of 30 signed and numbered prints. Tom’s exciting rendering of a Wyoming Rodeo and his article also embody the creative use of a process.
