The Definition of an "Original Print"

The Print Council of America in response to the debate of what defines an original print, has set guidelines to define an original print as a work of art with the general requirements of: 

• The artist alone has created the master image in or upon the metal, stone, woodblock, or other material, for the purpose of creating the print.

• The print is made from the said materials, by the artist or pursuant to his direction.

• The finished print is approved by the artist.
